Darlington. You've probably never heard of it, and if you have, it's because you grew up there or by some slight chance you've been through it.The town is considerably quiet. There's no big events. Nothing ever exciting happens in Darligton. Many of the people here came to escape. Escape their problems, their difficulties, escape their lives. Start anew. Every person has a secret, a trouble. It doesn't matter if they just moved here or they grew up here; almost everyone is hiding something. This is why there are here. They couldn't take it. They came to escape, but the citizens will soon come to realize that running away will not help them escape. They need each other, but as the pain grows stronger, the more distanced they become and the more they start to hide. They need help. They need love. They cannot keep running forever.
It's just that simple.
And it's just that difficult.

For all the religious folk. It is a small church, though lavishly decorated, with stained-glass windows and beautiful sculptures. Mass is held daily, though you can come in at any time and just sit for some silence.
If you don't want to buy a gym membership, just go to the local pool. Though you're supposed to pay $3 to get in, most people just hop the fence, which is only about seven feet high so it's pretty easy to climb.
Yay. High school. With the same people you've known for...nine or more years. Of course, you can't trust anyone in this school. If you cheated on your boyfriend, and one other person found out, the whole school will know within three days.
Finally, free from elementary school! Even if you already know everyone, it's a chance to rediscover yourself, get a new reputation (which will follow you to high school, so be careful). It's a small town - once you got a reputation, it sticks.
And, of course, the private school. It has only one class per grade, and goes from kindergarten to eighth grade. This is stereotyped as the 'snob' school, as most private schools are, though most of the time the children are just as normal as anyone else.
One of the 3 elementary schools in Darlington. It goes from kindergarten to sixth grade. It's a fairly small school; all of the teacher's GRANDPARENTS went to school here.
For your rambunctious rugrats. It's basically a one-room preschool, located about a street away from the elementary school. It has a small playground and a small lawn, concealed by a chain-link fence.
Complete with a pool, a tennis court, a hot tub, a steam room, lockerrooms, a racketball court inside, and a gym, this is basically the only place to get exercise in the whole town.
A small movie theatre in the 'downtown' area. It has only six screens, and is considerably cheap. Matinee: $2.50 for child, $3.50 for senior, $4.50 for adult Regular: $3.50 for child, $4.50 for senior, $5.50 for adult
Not really a 'center'. It's more or less a couple of streets downtown that are packed with small businesses or family owned stores. This is where everyone does their shopping, for the most part.
An area nearby the park, flowing with beautiful flowers and shrubbery. This was built by a group of about twelve high schoolers about ten years ago. There is a cement path leading through. A river runs through, which connects to the river on the outskirts of town. A wooden bridge was built over the river, where people can overlook the river.
This is probably the most popular spot for younger children. It has a complete swingset, two slides, wooden platforms to climb on, and monkey bars. It is in a sandpit, surrounded by sidewalk and then overgrown green grass, a gravel path leading to and from the park.
The majority of the citizens here live in small houses, which are often in poor condition. There are a variety of houses; from Victorians to broken-down, adandoned homes.
Right outside the town are rolling hills and your basic country side. Trees galore, and fields of long, beige grasses. If you travel far enough through the thick trees, there is a deep river which leads down over a mile to a small lake. There is a rope swing on one of the trees, which, during the summer time, children use to swing into the river and swim around. Rolling hills, bushes, trees, and fields surround the outskirts of the town. Many children run around and play hide and seek back here, and it's a popular hang out spot for teenagers, though they have a tendency to get in trouble.
Yes, it's a small town, but you can't ALWAYS see your friends. Maybe you want to contact someone from school about homework? Or just send a casual IM? Maybe you're bored and want to write a letter. Whatever it is, here's the place.
Who're your friends? How about the enemies? Ooooh, and those cuties that you have your eyes on? Plot out your character's relationships here and make it looks entirely awesome.
Small towns are filled with rumors and gossip, and almost everyone has a reputation. So, post your reputation here, or comment on someone's reputation. Or tell a little gossip, and maybe people will add on. Or start a rumor, and watch it get twisted and changed around.
All of the old, inactive threads go here. If one of your threads was moved here and you want it to be taken out so you can continue, just contact an admin.
We don't just want to get to know your character, we want to know the person behind them. Here you can post interesting or not so interesting facts, and if you like you can put a few pictures too. Ramble away and do whatever you please in your own little board all about you.
